Strange Times Are Here

Strange Times – The Black Keys (A streaming version is on their myspace)
So when I picked up Magic Potion, I was hoping that it would sound as different as this. I can’t wait to hear what the other songs sound like.

100 Movies in 2008: February 14 – 22

15. King of California +/-
Michael Douglas creeps me out a little bit.
16. Elizabeth +
Whoa. Lily Allen was in this movie?
17. Elizabeth: The Golden Age +/-
Liked Elizabeth more, but I liked the colors, costumes, and sets in this movie more.
18. American Gangster +
Surprised. i wasn’t interested in seeing this when i saw the trailer.
19. The Usual Suspects +/-
This movie would’ve been just a + if:
A) I didn’t know anything about it except for the title.
B) I never saw a movie with a twist at the end.
C) I didn’t pay so much attention to the little details.
20. The Invisible -
Ugh.

045: what $11 paper looks like

I travelled to New York on Thursday for a job interview. I think it went well, but I don’t know what they thought or how I compared to the other people who applied. Unlike the position I applied for in Morristown, NJ, I really want this job. I’m more suited for it and I’d be designing for something I like.

The commute is a little longer, but I’d be taking the train. The building is about 20 blocks away from Penn Station and, even though I got a monster blister from an unwise shoe choice, I really don’t mind the walk at all.

The person I’d be working with if I got the job seemed really nice. I googled her when HR gave me the names of the people who were going to interview me. A bit stalker-ish, I guess, but I wanted to see what kind of work she does. I was impressed, inspired, and a bit jealous.

So anyway… if you don’t see another post about this in the next week or two, you can assume that I am sulking in my room and searching for another place to apply.

100 Movies in 2008: February 7 – February 14

9. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford +/-
Enjoyed Casey Affleck’s performance, but i thought the movie was a little long. The shot of the masked robbers against the trees? very creepy
10. The Brave One +/-
11. The Heartbreak Kid (2007) -
Oh, Ben Stiller. I’ve decided that I don’t really like your movies… except Zoolander.
12. Gone Baby Gone +
actually enjoyed this one. wondered what i would do if i was in that dude’s situation at the end.
13. December Boys +/-
Sweet.
14. Becoming Jane +/-
I liked it and, even though I knew they were never going to be together, i still wanted a happier ending. now i want to watch pride and prejudice. This has nothing to do with the movie, but James McAvoy reminds me of this guy I know… just with darker hair. Really nice eyes.

100 Movies in 2008: January 24 – February 6

Since I am tired of finding stills from every movie and cropping them, I’m just going to copy Emma and post them here.

1. Cloverfield +/-
Although it made me nauseous, I found it entertaining.
2. 3:10 To Yuma (2007) +/-
I don’t really like westerns, but this wasn’t bad.
3. Wet Hot American Summer +/-
So bad and strange that it was good.
4. Shoot ‘Em Up +/-
See review above.
5. The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) +/-
i wonder if the original was better…
6. Rebel Without A Cause +/-
Good. I don’t think I’ll ever watch it again, though.
7. Paris, je t’aime +
Kind of like Coffee and Cigarettes. I liked this movie more than C&C. the only segment i didn’t like was the chinatown salon segment.
8. Driving Lessons +/-
Movie was okay. Nice to see Rupert Grint as someone other than Ron Weasley.
