On last night’s grey’s anatomy episode

As soon as I heard the word “Amazon”, i told my roommate, “I bet a catfish swam up his pee hole.”

Oh Poisonous & Venomous Animals class, you really did come in handy.

Hobby

knitting
Towards the end of Spring Break (mid-March) I bought one of those learn-how-to-knit kits. I always wanted to learn and I figured that it’d be something to do while I procrastinated.

Senior Project 2 Exhibition

Is it weird that I don’t want to go to my exhibition reception?

No one I know (besides people from class) is going. I didn’t bother to invite anyone… except my roommates. I am from North Jersey and my college is in the Pine Barrens. I wouldn’t want to drive all the way from there just to see something I can show you online. That, and no one loves me. Aww.

I wish that I could do what Tonks does and change my appearance. I’d love to hear what people say about my stuff when I’m not around. I’m sure I’d get bitch slapped if my old classmates heard my “Ugh. That’s all she produced in 4 years? YOU can do this and you’re not an art major.” and my “She’s done better work than this.” comments.

Me [1:09 AM]: i had to hang everything with l-hooks
Me [1:10 AM]: and as i was screwing them into the wall, i thought to myself, “it’s like i’m twisting the wall’s nipples or something… ew.”
Maurine [1:11 AM]: you did not think that
Maurine [1:11 AM]: you did not
Maurine [1:12 AM]: that’s the worst thing i’ve ever heard
Me [1:12 AM]: i was trying real hard not to laugh when the person in charge of the gallery was showing us how to do it and was screwing in two hooks at a time

blood and adhesive

So… this annoying kid in my class came up to me while I was trying to count glass and said, “YOU GOTTA BE REAL CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE GLASS.”

I rolled my eyes and thought, Seriously? Because I was just going to smash all of these on the floor and make angels in the glass shards.

Then, I sliced a part of my finger on a sharp edge. I blame Annoying Kid.

I also left my can of spray mount in the Mac lab last night. This week was such a blur that I was certain I left in somewhere in the apartment. I cleaned up my space, searched the cleaning supply closet, looked under the couch, looked in the cupboards, fridge… My roommate suggested to look in the lab, and there it was! Oy vey. It felt a lot lighter when I went back for it this afternoon… so I took one of the full, abandoned cans in the spray room. 1 free can of spray mount! SCOOOOREEEE.

We’re installing our exhibition tomorrow. Let’s hope that I don’t cut myself, smash my finger with a hammer, or impale my hand with a nail.

Maybe there will be photos (of the exhibition… not the injuries)… We’ll see.

Happy Friday the 13th to us.

So.. on Thursday, our governor was in a really bad car accident a few miles (possibly less than a mile) from my college. First, I heard that he had a broken tibia that punctured a couple of holes in his skin. Later, I found out that he was in surgery and had several broken ribs.

Next, I found out that his injuries wouldn’t have been as bad if he had been wearing HIS FREAKING SEAT BELT. Oy vey.

On Friday / early Saturday morning, it seemed like the cops were everywhere. This morning, my friend was interning in the town next to the college and said there were patrol cars everywhere. This afternoon, I drove to my other friend’s house for her birthday. I saw one cop car that just gave someone a ticket, and one that was waiting to catch someone speeding. Usually, you don’t see that until the end of the month. Then, on the way home from dinner, they closed a large portion of Route 9 and there were flashing lights everywhere. We assumed it was a bad accident. If they were paving the road (which they sometimes do late at night…), they’d open up one lane instead of sending everyone back where they came from, right? So we took an alternate route to my friend’s house. On the way, we saw cop cars that stopped people for speeding and one patrol car that stopped because a car had flipped over.

Oy freaking vey.

Dinner, by the way, was at a Turkish restaurant. We all had lamb. It was delicious. We had dessert at some adorable cafe in Freehold. I had Pistachio, Hazelnut, and Caramel Fudge ice cream. mmm.

Dear moo.com,
Fuck you for not having express shipping.
Love,
Denise

I guess it’s kind of my fault, too. I assumed they had express shipping and waited ’til now to print my cards. Now I have to do more freaking work and find a not-so-shady place to print them. ARGH.

Pattern

I haven’t been sleeping very well. It seems like I am sleeping later and later. Last night I fell asleep around 3:30 AM. Right now, it is almost 4:30AM. You’d think that I’d wake up at 1PM, right? I don’t. This morning (or yesterday morning), I woke up at 9AM. The night before that, I slept around the same time, woke up at 7, and was in class by 8. I stayed awake, too.

I get sleepy, but I fight it. I’m doing it right now, actually. When I do try to sleep, I am wide awake and worrying about all the crap I’ve got to do. Worrying doesn’t help me get to sleep any faster. Then I feel like I’m wasting more time and I should get up and work on these things that I’m worrying about. This is the song that never ends. Yes, it goes on and on my friends

James Hunter / Buddy Guy @ the House of Blues, Atlantic City

um. James Hunter kinda sucked.

Buddy Guy… good guitar player (he made it look effortless.) and definitely a showman. I wonder if Hendrix stole the whole ‘play guitar with your teeth’ thing from him. He went out into the audience… and not into some small portion in the front. He came out on the left side, went to the back, went UP TO THE BALCONY, probably went all around up there, came back down to where we were, came up and sang to me, and then went up the middle and onto the stage… this was all while playing his guitar and singing. (I was wondering why they were really checking us before we went in… ) It was a cool thing to do, BUUUT i kinda got bored with the song after a while. same with the solos. it just felt like the song was going on and on when it should have ended a while ago, but I suppose you’d expect that at a blues show.. and from a jam band.

Some of the songs he played/covered (that I recognized): Read the rest of this entry »

philippines

so… let’s say that you and your cousin were going to the philippines at the end of may (may 22 – june 10 to be exact), where would you go?

Both sides of my family are from the Laguna province, so I’ll probably be around there a lot.

cebu is out of the question. (we don’t want to go too far. and we’re poor.) boracay is a possibility. it doesn’t even have to be a really, really popular tourist spot. i just don’t want to be in Metro Manila too much.
