today was a “hey, let’s go to the beach” day

One of the things that I will miss about this school is the location and the spontaneous trips to the shore.

Students get the day off when we have to see our preceptor. This semester’s preceptor day just happened to land on the warmest day we’ve had in a while. We drove down the Parkway to Ocean City in my roommate’s boyfriend’s jeep. Possibly the windiest ride of my life. We were only on the parkway for a few minutes, but by the time we got there, the left side of my face was numb, my sunglasses had blown off of my face (and into my friend’s lap), and my hair was as tangled as a bird’s nest.

Of course, I decided to leave my camera at home when I came back from spring break. Oh, I won’t need it. I’m not going to any fun places… Grr…

Silversun Pickups / OK GO / Snow Patrol @ the Tweeter Center

Silversun Pickups: came in when they were practically finished with their set. i didn’t really listen to them.

Ok Go: played all the songs i liked on the most recent album. entertaining and funny guys.

Snow Patrol: i get really sleepy during a lot of their songs. the sound was a lot better than when they played at the Electric Factory, but we had really bad seats at the Tweeter Center… singer mentioned the whole Top 5 Dangerous US Cities thing and asked if there were any real criminals in the audience.

if i could talk to colors…

Oh yellow! Why do you have to be such a great, yet irritating color?

KOL

So I listened to the new Kings of Leon album a little early. (It’s out on the first week of April.)

When I listened to the first single, “On Call”, I didn’t expect to like this album as much as I like Aha Shake Heartbreak. I definitely don’t. The first song, “Knocked Up”, is a little too long for me. (It’s about seven minutes) “Desolation Row” seems shorter… I don’t remember the name of the second song, but I remember not liking it because of the 3-year-old-throwing-a-temper-tantrum-esque screams. Not fun. I started liking the album more after “McFearless” (McSeriously. The song titles on this album are kinda dumb.), but, like the songs on Magic Potion, most of the songs were just “blah”, okay, or forgettable.

Unless my opinion of this CD changes, I probably won’t be going on some great quest to buy it.

So…

We finally figured out how to make those recordable DVDs work on other DVD players… and when I say “We”, I really mean “I”.

So let me test something. This is my first birthday (aug 1986).

I still hate wearing those birthday party hats. You can hear my mom saying, “She really doesn’t like it!” in Filipino before that hat snaps back in my face.

Grad

graduationI got my cap and gown today. When I got back, I tried on the cap and started running around the apartment. Poor Miggy was looking at me and probably thinking, “What has gotten into this girl?”

We got little free gifts during the thing. The things they give away at this school are either hit or miss. I don’t remember getting anything when I first moved here as a freshman. Last year, they got backpacks. This year’s freshmen got little USB flash drives. (256MB each… Leila stole two for me last semester.) … and then they give out laundry bags, ugly card holders and notepads, and flashlights WITHOUT AN ON/OFF SWITCH. Guess what I got today.
Oh! One of the ladies at the table told me that I have student loans and I need to fill out some form before I graduate. … Except that I don’t have any student loans. I never filled out any forms for financial aid or anything. My dad used what I got from my mom’s life insurance and what we had to pay for school. So I’ve got to sort that all out. Sigh.
