JOB

I am now working. I got a job at a fancy-schmancy shoe store in the mall. One of those places where the people who work there look perfect. You know… with the
a) wrinkle-free, for-the-office-yet-trendy clothing
b) perfect hair and hairstyle
c) flawless makeup

… and here I come with my “haven’t-been-washed-in-a-few-days” jeans, my “Guns N Roses: Live At The Whisky” shirt, and my “didn’t-feel-like-brushing-my-hair” hairstyle.

I have a feeling I will look and feel out of place. (It’s just like high school again!) I have to go out tomorrow and get some decent pants & shirts or something so I won’t look like the oddball. (It’s just like middle school again!)

I must try not to complain or talk about people at work. Wouldn’t want to get dooced. Maybe I’ll password-protect those entries. ;)

and new colors for this layout because the orange was bothering me.

It’s so weird seeing people from high school around town. I mean, yes, you recognize them in facebook or livejournal and add them as friends, but would you ever hang out with these people again? I don’t think I could ever just “hang out” with some of the people I was friends with in high school. You go out to eat and see what the other person has been doing, but then it would turn into a “Remember when we did this…” kind of thing. That eventually ends in awkward silence. What do we talk about now? I guess it’s time to break out the story about that one night I got so wasted and woke up in a laundry basket on the island in the middle of Lake Fred. (15 points to myself if that actually happens to me one day.)

Anyway, that was kind of fueled by seeing someone from high school while grocery shopping with Abbie tonight. She’s having a barbeque tomorrow night.
I’m really going to have a ‘drive-tastic’ day tomorrow. I have an job interview at 10AM. From there, I have to find something that I can store files on. I don’t think I can email myself photos and I don’t know if the school computer can burn CDs. I have my iPod, but I’m not sure how to store non-music files on there. After all that, I have to drive to school and officially start my internship. I have to search for useable photos on the Organization’s computer to use in a layout and gallery. I don’t know how long all of that is going to take, but I must make it back for Abbie’s thing because there will be hamburgers and eggplant parmesian.

Summer Complaints

I know summer doesn’t technically start until June 21st or some crazy date like that, but WHAT THE HELL??!!?! I’m still sneezing. It’s cold. It’s been raining a lot. I haven’t been to the shore or to Great Adventure yet.

[insert angry face]

I’m very bored with everything lately. I feel like making another website, but for what? I want to draw, but I can’t think of anything. I want to go out and take photos, but I don’t have the photo lab nearby anymore. The book I’m reading is not so interesting anymore. The internet has become so boring that I’ve ditched weblog reading and writing for thefacebook, audioscrobbler, and myspace. (No, I will not tell you what is my myspace URL or facebook URL. You’ll just have to search for it… STALKER.)

I’m becoming a godmother (again) next month. My cousin called me up a few days ago and asked if I would be Godmother. I visited them on Tuesday. Apparently, the baby got really pudgy in a month. Cousin told me that she started (or will start) introducing him as “her fat son”.

matthew

I ain’t got no money, but it goes to show…

Velvet Revolver show was today. I should be Geek Almighty and come up with a ratings system for concerts. I’m not sure how I would rate this one though. Does experience up to the point of the headlining band count? Do you give bonus points for a good performance? Do you give bonus points when Slash is possibly drunk? Do you give even more bonus points when Scott goes into the crowd and onto the shoulders of fans during Sex Type Thing to say a basic “Fuck you.” to some asshole and to get everyone to chant, “Here I Come, I come, I come, I come.”?

Oh, that Scott Weiland.

Slash, Duff McKagan, and Scott definitely made my night better. Yeah, Matt and Dave helped, but I heart those three… especially Duff and Scott. I think I would’ve spontaneously combusted if Izzy Stradlin walked out on stage or if they played Interstate Love Song. (Note: there’s a link to a live, acoustic, Velvet Revolver version of Interstate Love Song at the bottom)

From 5PM to when Velvet Revolver started their set was HELL. It took me almost an hour and a half to get to the venue. The exit for my town is 127 on the Parkway. The venue was at exit 116. If I’m speeding, I can drive to Stockton College (Exit 44) in an hour and a half. That’s how bad it was. I get to PNC Arts Center around 6:30PM. We get pretty decent lawn seats. Right by the fence. No one’s there yet. At 7:15, a band called Modern Day Zero (?) went onstage. Blah, blah boring. Hoobastank went on at 8:15. They weren’t all that bad. I’m not a really big fan, but they were decent.

Did I mention that it was about 44 degrees out and breezy and very, very, wet?

The numb-toe-and-finger feeling was easier to fight once VR was on stage. I found myself singing along more enthusiastically to Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses songs than Velvet Revolver songs. I just forgot all the lyrics from Contraband. I guess this proves that I’m one of those who prefer STP and GNR to the “supergroup”. ..But they were still awesome.

By the way, “It’s So Easy” is the BEST song to sing along to.

waiting

I have nothing to write about these days. School is over. There’s no one to push me away from the TV when general hospital is on. I’m staying up way past my bedtime reading books about the Vatican and dragons. It is 5AM and I didn’t sleep at all. I could never do that when I was at school.

I am waiting for these people to call me back for a job interview. There are many concerts I want to go to this summer. There are final installments of movie series that I need to see. There are lots of movies I missed during the school year that are now available to rent on DVD. One of my favorite bands is coming out with a double album in June. There is a book that is coming out in less than 60 days that I must own and read. There is a certain website that needs to be renewed in a couple of days. Add in the possible trips to the shore, to outlet malls, to the discount art stores, and to Six Flags Great Adventure. I need money.

I’m also waiting for my internship to start. I am not sure if I mentioned it before, but I am redesigning the website of a campus organization for one credit over the summer. I’m earning the other three credits next semester by designing posters, brochures, and updating the website for them. I hope that I have time to do it all. I’m trying to catch up with my art classes and have three studio classes next semester. Will I have time to make all this stuff? Will I have enough ideas for everything?

BLEH. Back to that dragon book.

Weezer, Part Three

I don’t care how bad or good Weezer’s music is nowadays. I still love seeing them live. The Electric Factory in Philadelphia is perfect. Almost like what Birch Hill was and what the Starland is.

The only thing I don’t like about general admission is that some people and their friends would push past us to get a better spot while we were waiting for Weezer. THERE IS NO MORE ROOM AT THE FRONT. SUCK IT UP AND COME EARLIER NEXT TIME. or you do what I do and wait and move when you know it won’t piss anyone off. I dazzled my roommates with my ability to move towards the stage without shoving others out of the way. The trick is to find an open space when the crowd in front of you gets pulled one way and quickly move into that open space. I think it works best when there’s only two of you, though. It worked well in 2002 when I was with my cousin. This time, we ended up getting separated from the other two roommates and had to wait to get them through.

As for the show, it was oodles o’fun. The opening band was good at first, and then started to put all of us to sleep. My roommates ended up liking Weezer’s show. Two of them didn’t really know any Weezer songs except “Island In The Sun” and “Buddy Holly”, and the other roommate was familiar with the ones I always play in the car. They played a lot of songs from Pinkerton and the blue album, a few from the green, and some from their new CD. Brian, the adorable Jackson Browne lookalike, sang ‘Getchoo‘. (Leila’s response to Rivers’ introduction of Brian: “Whoa! HELLO, BRIAN!”.)

The end of the show was bad. These guys near us started throwing punches and ruined ‘The Good Life‘ for me. All the people around started to move away from them, causing it to be very cramped again. Three or four security guys shoved past me to get to the fight… which I don’t mind, but these guys were all heavy, muscular types. It was already hard to move around. You also saw people shoving as we were buying t-shirts and cds. This one heavy dude in a blue tshirt kept pushing me forward while we were in line. I couldn’t move up any further and he was making me freak out, so I planted my feet and started to push back with my back. If he kept doing it, I would’ve stomped on his foot with my 3 inch boot heels. Stupid motherfucker.

So, that was my third fun weezer experience. I ended up buying the new album (I have the other 4, why break the tradition?), but I haven’t listened to it yet. Too scared that it’ll be awful. I liked the songs they played live, but hearing it live first is weird. I’ll love it live because I’m having fun, and then I’ll hate the actual song.

end of the school year

Auto response from laydeepicturesho: packing.

i don’t know what i’ll miss more… my roommates or the fast internet connection.
