For Joe’s bachelor party, Jon organized a three day trip to an anime convention in North Carolina. He told me it was something that the two were thinking of doing for some time now (”but we won’t get to go now that he’s getting married.”). Jon continued with an anime theme in his best man speech. The speech, which came together hours before the ceremony, makes obvious references to Joe’s favorite manga, One Piece.

Hello, everyone. My name is Jonathan. On behalf of Joe and Christin, I would like to thank all of you for sharing this beautiful day with them.

I have always referred to Joe as one of my oldest friends. It was only recently that I realized that Joe is THE single oldest friend in my life. We have known each other since we began our adventures in the hall of St. Ann’s School at the ages of six and seven. As we grew older, various acquaintances had come and gone, but eventually Joe developed a tight-knit group of friends. This group of people could be likened to a crew of pirates from a small boy’s imaginary games. We traveled far and wide seeking excitement and risk. Our daring knew no bounds. Whether it was jeering and waving plastic ninja swords at awful New Jersey drivers, or launching fireworks from a hill behind a middle school, no one was safe from our crew. I think of the many memories we have together, and I believe that these adventures will continue. They will have new participants, but continue none-the-less.

When Joe first told me that he proposed to Christin, I was very happy for both of them. It also made me realize how incredible it is to find the right person. A person with whom you can share everything. Someone to support you during both good and bad. I have no doubts that Joe quickly discovered Christin would be his partner for life. He had found that perfect match. The one piece he was missing in life.

In closing, I would like to say this:
Christin, we support giving up a member of our crew because we know that Joe will continue having many more adventures with you as his new first mate.

That quote in the title was from my former best friend who told me during the second or first season that she would stop watching if Charlie died. I wonder if she still watches.
